My name is Fredrick and my birthday is May 8, 2020. I live in Vea, Ghana, with my family. Science is my favorite class at school, and I also love moulding with clay. Outside of school, I like playing football (soccer), and I would like to be a policeman when I grow up.

The Context
Fredrick’s world.
Fredrick lives in Vea, a farming village in Ghana’s Upper East Region — one of the poorest areas in West Africa. He attends school here, walking along unpaved roads through the savanna each morning.
In Vea, families depend on a single rainy season — just three months — to grow an entire year’s food. Only 9% of people in the district live within walking distance of clean water. The groundwater itself is contaminated with fluoride levels above WHO safety limits.
