My name is Divinaa and my birthday is February 8, 2016. I live in Vea, Ghana, with my family. English is my favorite class at school, and I also love reading storybooks. My favorite animal is a dog, and I would like to be a nurse when I grow up.

The Context
Divina’s world.
Divina lives in Vea, a farming village in Ghana’s Upper East Region — one of the poorest areas in West Africa. She attends school here, walking along unpaved roads through the savanna each morning.
In Vea, families depend on a single rainy season — just three months — to grow an entire year’s food. Only 9% of people in the district live within walking distance of clean water. The groundwater itself is contaminated with fluoride levels above WHO safety limits.
