My name is Jacquelin and my birthday is May 17th. I live in Nicaragua with my family. I have 3 siblings: Miguel, Meybeling, and Maykeling. I love the color yellow. My favorite animal is a cat. I enjoy painting my nails.

Jaquelin lives in Granada, Nicaragua — one of the oldest colonial cities in the Americas. Behind the painted facades and cobblestone streets, families in the surrounding barrios survive on less than $10 a day.

63% of Nicaraguans live in poverty. In the barrios where Jaquelin lives, tropical downpours turn roads to mud and make schools unreachable for weeks. 19% of children under five have developmental delays from malnutrition.
